Hank Cochran had just met Willie in Nashville when they started writing together. Willie played this one for Hank and he took him to Patsy Cline's house immediately. Willie was too embarrassed to meet a star like Patsy Cline so he stayed in the car while Hank went in. "Patsy! I got your next number one right here!" and he went in and played it for her. After Patsy heard the song she went out to the car and demanded, "Willie Nelson! You come in this house right now!" And Willie Nelson's career took off from that very moment. That's the Story as told to me by Hank Cochran's side.
