Sunday Bloody Sunday John Lennon

             E
Well it was sunday, bloody sunday
When they shot the people there
The cries of thirteen martyrs
Filled the free Derry air.
         G
Is there any one among you
Dare to blame it on the kids?
        A (hold)
Not a soldier boy was bleeding
When they nailed the coffin lidds!

B A
Sunday bloody sunday
       G B
Bloody sunday's the day!

You claim to be majority
Well you know that it's a lie
You're really a minority
Oh this sweet emerald isle.
When Stormont bans our marchers
They've got a lot to learn
Internment is no answer
It's those mother's turn to burn!

Sunday bloody sunday
Bloody sunday's the day!

Solo on (same as verse) E G A

This song should not be here: it has nothing to do with U2. This is a John Lennon's song, written in 1972 just after the events. Note that there is a good cover by The Wolfe Tones (see in UG).

U2's song is totally different and is not a cover of this one.
