I think the Fmaj7 in the verse is correct (although it's Fmaj7/C and C/G, which is the way you have the chords diagrammed).
But, I think it's all 1st position chords in the chorus, and I don't hear a Csus2 or Cadd9 there, the C/G chord is kind of rhythmically muted by relaxing and tensing the pressure on the strings (and muting the open strings). That's the way I've always played it, and watching some live clips on YT that's what I see David doing.
