Dsus2 Dsus2 Dsus2 C F riff 1
a wallpaper pulls his punch, talks to judy in a crowded corner
Dsus2 Dsus2 Dsus2 C F riff 1
he don't read page to page or say the words in order
Dsus2 Dsus2 Dsus2 C F riff 1
judy's illustrating and she's a stranger to the straight face
Dsus2 Dsus2 Dsus2 C F riff 1
always seems so far away, staring out into space

hihat break

Dsus2 Dsus2 Dsus2 C F riff 1
"i'm sorry, tried to stay away" says punch, "later account, though"
Dsus2 Dsus2 Dsus2 C F riff 1
you dress like an opposite but really it's more than echo
Dsus2 Dsus2 Dsus2 C F riff 1
judy leans over, like a strike of a clock says, "i don't buy that, boy."
Dsus2 Dsus2 Dsus2 C F riff 1
there's two inside of you and they're both gonna be destroyed.

F#m C#
in the alley, mixing blood cheek to cheek
Bbm G# F#m G#m B
you're up against the words you never could dare to speak
F#m C#
it's your conflict shored up tight
Bbm G# F#m C#
your heavy steps that follow her steps so light

Dsus2 Dsus2 Dsus2 C F riff 1
so judy holds punch, cufflinks inside her clenched fist
Dsus2 Dsus2 Dsus2 C F riff 1
she had a dream of bandages on punch's wrist
Dsus2 Dsus2 Dsus2 C F riff 1
so she sees punch with a thorn in his hand and says, "stop right there
Dsus2 Dsus2 Dsus2 C F riff 1
what the fuck are you doing don't you know i care?"

hihat break

Dsus2 Dsus2 Dsus2 C F riff 1
but she hears the bark of a cop and drops to the dirty street
Dsus2 Dsus2 Dsus2 C F riff 1
"i wonder," punch says, "do you know what at all, what's protecting me?"
Dsus2 Dsus2 Dsus2 C F riff 1
judy used to hold me like a pencil writing out some change
Dsus2 Dsus2 Dsus2 C F riff 1
her cheap philosopher was spare change for brains

F#m C#
in the alley, mixing blood cheek to cheek
Bbm G# F#m G#m B
you're up against the words you never could dare to speak
F#m C#
it's your conflict shored up tight
Bbm G# F#m C#
your heavy steps that follow her steps so light

this is the "other version" of "punch and judy"! unfortunatly ultimate-guitar was not able to add that appendix to the title! actually it should be listed like: "punch and judy (other version)! -- sorry about confusing some people, who are looking for the more common either/or-version! -- anyway: hope some of you might like this version!
