HARDY - Wait In The Truck

Tune your guitar to double Drop C - CGCFAC
(aka double drop D tuned down a full step)

[Intro]
D5 Cadd9 G/B
D5 Cadd9 G/B

[Verse 1]
       D5
I got turned around in some little town
     Cadd9 G/B
I'd never been to before
        D5
Working my way through a middle-of-June
 Cadd9 G/B
Midnight thunderstorm

           D5
There was something in the headlights
    Cadd9 G/B
It stopped me on a dime
               D5
Well, she was scared to death, so I said
      Cadd9 G/B
Climb in and then she climbed

      D5 Cadd9 G/B
Ohh, ohh ohh yeah

[Verse 2]
              D5
Well, she was bruised and broke from head to toe
        Cadd9 G/B
With a tear in her blood-stained shirt
           D5
She didn't tell the whole truth but she didn't have to
    Cadd9 G/B
I knew what had happened to her

          D5
I didn't load her down with questions
      Cadd9 G/B
That girl had been through enough
       D5
I just threw it in drive, looked in those eyes
       Cadd9 G/B
And I asked her where he was

[Chorus]
         D5
I don't know if he's an angel
        Cadd9 G/B
'Cause angels don't do what he did
            D5
He was hellbent to find the man behind
          Cadd9 G/B
All the whiskey scars I hid

         D5
I never thought my day of justice
                    Cadd9 G/B
Would come from a judge under a seat
      D5 Cadd9
But I knew right then I'd never get hit again
                G/B
When he said to me

             D5
Wait in the truck
                   Cadd9 G/B
Just wait in the truck

[Verse 3]
         D5
Well, I knocked and knocked and no one came
      Cadd9 G/B
So I kicked in his double-wide door
           D5
I let the hammer drop before he got
         Cadd9 G/B
To that twelve he was reaching for

          D5
I didn't try to hide my pistol
          Cadd9 G/B
I didn't even try to run
                  D5
I just sat on the porch, smoking one of his cigarettes
           Cadd9 G/B
And waited for the cops to come

[Chorus]
    D5
I don't know if he's an angel
        Cadd9 G/B
'Cause angels don't do what he did
            D5
He was hellbent to find the man behind
          Cadd9 G/B
All the whiskey scars I hid

         D5
I never thought my day of justice
                    Cadd9 G/B
Would come from a judge under a seat
      D5 Cadd9
But I knew right then I'd never get hit again
                G/B
When he said to me

             D5
Wait in the truck
                   Cadd9 G/B
Just wait in the truck

[Post-Chorus]
      D5
Whoa oah (whoa)
        Cadd9 G/B
Have mercy on me, Lord
              D5
Have mercy on me
              Cadd9 G/B
Have mercy on me-e (hey), Lord

[Bridge]
           D5
It's been sixty months and she still comes
   Cadd9 G/B
To see me from time to time
       D5
It was worth the price, to see a brighter side
        Cadd9 G/B
Of the girl I picked up that night

       D5
And I might be here forever
           Cadd9 G/B
It ain't paradise, that's true
            D5
But it's a whole hell of a lot better
         Cadd9 G/B
Than the place I sent him to, yeah

[Outro]
D5
(Have mercy, have mercy, have mercy on me)
             Cadd9
Wait in the truck (have mercy on me)
G/B D5
Just wait in the truck

(Have mercy, have mercy, have mercy on me)
             Cadd9
Wait in the truck (Lord, have mercy)
G/B D5
Just wait in the truck

                                       Cadd9
(Have mercy, have mercy, have mercy on me)
G/B D5
Lord, have mercy on me

                                       Cadd9
(Have mercy, have mercy, have mercy on me)
G/B
Lord
               D5
(Have mercy on me)

                                     Cadd9 G/B
(Have mercy, have mercy, have mercy on me
           D5
Wait in the truck
                Cadd9 G/B
Just wait in the truck

D5 Cadd9 G/B
(Have mercy, have mercy, have mercy on me)

            D5
Wait in the truck
               Cadd9 G/B D5
Just wait in the truck (have mercy)

Excellent! This is actually pretty much as I figured it out as well, except I used double drop D tuning (also called drop C tuning when tuned down a full step, or CGCFAC) and for me it sounds just like the song (the video anyway). In this tuning instead of a D major chord I play a D5 with open bottom E string. I think he sticks with the D5, Cadd9, and G/B chords all the way through. (I don't know how you would play those G major or F major chords with that tuning...). These are just my suggestions for consideration - great tab!!

so this is really good, I would suggest a couple of things, this is what I hear, with the tuning suggestion C#G#C#F#A#C# first I would puck 1st string, 2nd string then hold 4th string-2nd fret and 5th string-3rd fret and pick 1st and 2nd string then chord 3rd, 4th, and 5th string as a chord (2 times). 3rd chord, pick 2nd string-3rd fret and 3rd sting open then chord 3-4-5 as before, 4th chord, pick 2nd string 2nd fret, 3 string open, then chord 3, 4, and 5 strings with only 3rd fret 5th string.. what do you think?
