I couldn't find any tabs for this song so i tried to figure it out myself with the help
their performance on Letterman. This is just a simplified version to help others get
and hopefully someone else will be able to add onto this and make it better because this
my first attempt at tabbing a song.
intro:
either have one guitar do strum this:
----
----
--2-
--2-
--0-
----
while a second comes in with this:
-----------------------
-----------------------
|-0-(x8)----------------| (x2)
--------4-(x8)--2-(x16)
-----------------------
-----------------------
or combine them like this:
------------------------
------------------------
-0-(x8)--0--------------
-2-------4-(x8)--2-(x16)
-0-------0-------0------
------------------------
the other guitar riff in the intro is:
---------------------
-8----8--------------
|--9-----7---9--------| (x2)
---------------10-9--
---------------------
---------------------
verse: (1st 2 lines palm-muted)
Am C Em Em
I could of sworn that I saw you knee bent on the bedside,
Am C Em Em
Arms stretched like a kite that time will eventually grow.
---------------------
-------------------1-
---------------5-4-2-
---------------5-4-2-
---------------3-2-0-
|---------------------|I'm so sure of it
Am C Em Em
And I've got a reason, too long, for songs
Am C Em Em
That tells why your legs and arms are actually able.
chorus:
Cause I confide in wolves at night.
-----------------------------------------0---------------
---------------3-3----3-3--1-1-1-1-1-----0---------------
---------------0-0----2-2--2-2-2-2-2-----0---------------
---------------2-2----0-0--2-2-2-2-2-----2-(x about 16)--
---------------3-3----2-2--0-0-0-0-0-----2---------------
-----------------------------------------0---------------
well have you seen my baby girl? she's lonely.
Am, C, Em, Em (x2)
verse 2: (last 2 lines palm-muted)
----------------------------------------------------
----------------------------------------------------
-----------14----------5----------------9-----------
-----------14-(x8)-----5-(x8)-----------9-(x16)-----
-----------12----------3----------------7-----------
----------------------------------------------------
I've got to crucify myself if I am gonna believe you
Am C Em Em
I've got to promise that I’ll finish all the things I said I'd do to begin with too
Am C Em Em
I've got to make my bed if I am gonna lay with you
Am C Em Em
Cause a disaster's a disaster no matter what Christian language you drag it through

gutterButter, i think you're wrong about the power chords. watch them play it on letterman, andy didn't use power
chords for the palm-muted parts.
as far as not having an f chord, i think he's just playing the bottom 4 strings, not
a full f chord. so that might make a difference.
i would change the chorus slightly though:

The F chord is Fmaj7... doesn't make too big of a difference but it makes it easier to play...
Fmaj7
[xx3210]
And for the part where he says "ca ca ca ca crucify..."
I play octaves on A (5th fret, E string), C (3rd fret, A string), and E (7th fret, A string)... with a slight bend towards the end
And finally the lead part is up an octave the last two times it is played... but that's obvious enough
