The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time (1998) - Great Fairy Fountain

The song is played in F, with a capo on the 10th fret to ease the fingering. I prefer to play it fingerstyle,
but playing with a pick is okay too. I have big hands, so some of the fingerings might be hard to do with
small hands. I'll add some alternate fingerings to the parts with the biggest stretches.

(I'll tab the literal frets I play regardeless of the capo. Tabbing like the 10th fret being 0 is too
confusing both for me and for who's playing)

The chord names might look wrong, but they're actually based on the bass and secondary lines.

[INTRO]

The first part of the song is a series of Gm6 chords played in an ascending way, arpeggio fashion. In the
original, each chord has 4 notes, but I reduced it to 3 because 4 notes would be way too hard without need.

e|---------------------------12----------------------------------------------|
B|-----------------11---15---15----------------------------------------------|
G|------------12---12---15---15----------------------------------------------|
D|--12---14---12---12---14---------------------------------------------------|
A|--13---17---13-------------------------------------------------------------|
E|--12---15------------------------------------------------------------------|

The fingerings I do for this part are:

2 1 1 1 3 1
3 4 1 3 2 3
1 2 2 2 1 2

This part benefits a lot from the fact that the guitar played in the higher frets sounds close to a harp.
Remember to arpeggiate the chords to make it sound right.

Now for the real song. Arpeggio madness, here we go.

[SECTION A]

- Bbmaj7

e|--17p10----------15p10----------14p10----------15p10-----------------------|
B|---------11-------------11-------------11-------------11-------------------|
G|-------------12-------------12-------------12-------------12---------------|
D|---------------------------------------------------------------------------|
A|---------------------------------------------------------------------------|
E|---------------------------------------------------------------------------|

For this part, I like to use my pinky for the first 17 note, pull it off to the open string (10th fret)
and then finger the 11 and 12 like an Am chord (in this case it's a Gm, but you get what I mean) with
fingers 1 and 2 and fret the high notes (the 15s and 14) with my pinky, holding the 11 and 12 in position
so they can ring throughout the section. Gives a nice effect.

[SECTION B]

- Am7

e|--15--------------13--------------12--------------13-----------------------|
B|------13--------------13--------------13--------------13-------------------|
G|----------14--10----------14--10----------14--10----------14--10-----------|
D|---------------------------------------------------------------------------|
A|---------------------------------------------------------------------------|
E|---------------------------------------------------------------------------|

Pretty straightforward. I barre both 13 of the second and fourth chord with finger 1.

[SECTION C]

Gm7

e|--13--------------12--------------11--------------12-----------------------|
B|------11--------------11--------------11--------------11-------------------|
G|----------12--------------12--------------12--------------12---------------|
D|--------------14--------------14--------------14--------------14-----------|
A|---------------------------------------------------------------------------|
E|---------------------------------------------------------------------------|

Remember to fret the first 13 note with finger 3, or the fingering won't work. This is probably the hardest
fingering of the song. I use 3-1-2-4 (from high to low) for the first, second and fourth chords, and 1-1-2-4
for the third.

[SECTION D]

- Fmaj7

e|--12--------------10------------------------------10-----------------------|
B|------10--------------10----------14--10--------------10-------------------|
G|----------10--------------10--------------10--------------10---------------|
D|--------------12--------------12--------------12--------------12-----------|
A|---------------------------------------------------------------------------|
E|---------------------------------------------------------------------------|

Definitely the easiest section. I don't pull-off the first 10 on the third chord, but that's personal taste.

[SECTION E]

- Bbmaj

e|--17p10----------15p10----------14p10----------15p10-----------------------|
B|---------11-------------11-------------11-------------11-------------------|
G|-------------12-------------12-------------12-------------12---------------|
D|---------------------------------------------------------------------------|
A|---------------------------------------------------------------------------|
E|---------------------------------------------------------------------------|

Same as section A, and played the same way.

[SECTION F]

- Caug

e|--18--------------17--------------16--------------17-----------------------|
B|------16--------------16--------------17--------------17-------------------|
G|----------17--10----------17--10----------17--10----------17--10-----------|
D|---------------------------------------------------------------------------|
A|---------------------------------------------------------------------------|
E|---------------------------------------------------------------------------|

Also straightforward. I fret the first, second and fourth chord as 3-1-2 and the third as 1-1-2

[SECTION G]

- Gm7

e|--20p10----------18p10----------17p10----------18p10-----------------------|
B|---------11-------------11-------------11-------------11-------------------|
G|-------------12-------------12-------------12-------------12---------------|
D|---------------------------------------------------------------------------|
A|---------------------------------------------------------------------------|
E|---------------------------------------------------------------------------|

Remember I said section C was the hardest? I might have lied. This is the way I play it, but I'm aware that
20-11 is too big of a jump for some people with small hands. I'll add an alternate fretting at the end of the
tab.

I do it just like section A and E, playing the high notes with my pinky and fingering the Am-like chord
(actually a Gm) with 1 and 2. The only difference is that now it's a giant jump and you can't hold the chord,
so you'll have to fret the 11 and 12 every time. Takes some practice, but it's easier than it looks.

You could also tap the high notes with the right hand. I personally don't like it, but it's an option.

[SECTION H]

- C7

e|--17--------------15--------------13--------------12-----------------------|
B|------11--------------11--------------11--------------11-------------------|
G|----------12--------------12--------------12--------------12---------------|
D|--------------14--------------14--------------14--------------14-----------|
A|---------------------------------------------------------------------------|
E|---------------------------------------------------------------------------|

Another hard section, but it's not like the previous one. I don't know any easier alternatives though.
I fret the 17 notes with my pinky and finger the 11 12 14 chord with 1-2-3, hold the chord and fret the 15
with the pinky too. I do the last two with 3-1-2-4. You can play the fourth chord with a fast arpeggio
downstroke, it's a nice way to finish the song.

[SECTION G.2]

- Gm7

e|--20p10----------18p10----------17p10--------------------------------------|
B|---------------------------------------------------------------------------|
G|---------15-------------15------------15-----------------------------------|
D|-------------17-------------17------------17-------------------------------|
A|---------------------------------------------------------------------------|
E|---------------------------------------------------------------------------|

A little easier to play. Use the pinky for the high notes and 1-2 for 15 and 17. If you don't like to pull-off
with the pinky, you can play the 15th fret on the fifth string instead (then the fingering for the chord would
be 1-1-2) but I find this way harder.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

That's it. Not the easiest song ever, but definitely playable. Don't hold yourself to the same tempo, you
can vary it to make the song more fluid and less robotic. Give it some feeling. If you find any easier
frettings or find any mistake (musical or grammatical; English is not my mother language), please comment.
