I was blown away by this tab. How the heck do you guys hear these chords? Jealous (I would never think to slide up the E form without the barre - never).
But, I am good a simplifying things. I found that on my accoustic the verses sound pretty good as follows:
1....2....3....4....
E.........E(3)......
She was a girl,
E(6)......E.........
Soft but estranged
Where you slide up the open E chord to the 3rd fret for E(3) then to the 6th fret for E(6), then just back to a regular open E (to start and end each verse pass). These seem to be the major transitions and you can mix in the other slides, as tabbed, to make it more accurate.
And if I were listening to a CD I'd probably hear the barre E chord at the end of the verse, but since I'm not a regular E sounds good and the people I played it for didn't notice. Take it for what it's worth. (I'm not looking to match the band, just to play a fun song. I know most are hardasses and looking more to add technical detail than to make things easier. But, I'm playing with a capo on 2 and it sounds good to me. To me, anyone taking Breaking the Girl too seriously is a loser. Just have fun with it).
I love the B-chord deal in the chorus too. Now that's a good ear. How do you hear that? Yeah, an F# bass on a B chord. Whatever, but thanks because it is a blast to play. This song is really fun, especially with the easier E stuff as I mention above. Thanks! (5+ stars)

Don't know how this chord chart is so well reviewed. All of these chord names are wrong.
There's not even a G# in the first chord shape according to the tuning, and if it the chords are being notated based on standard tuning, it's still wrong.
