For the picking pattern just keep your arm swinging down-up down-up with the beat
and don't strum for some of the strokes.
 
"~" means to sweep the notes instead of all at once
p = pull off
h = hammer on
d = downstroke
u = upstroke
(5) = notes in parenthesis might not actually be there but make it feel fuller without a band backing you.
