This version of the song was recorded at Electric Lady Studios NYC, it is the same as the original song, but it has a piano intro that I made a simple fingerstyle tab for. I included the chords and lyrics for the rest of the song and tried to make it clear where the chord changes are, it seems to flow with the song as far as I can tell. Hope you enjoy. Was this info helpful?

[Verse 1]
             Am F
Could it be I was the one that you held so deep in the night
            Am F
On the back staircase you fell to your knees with tears in your eyes
                D
All that you suffered, all the disease
               F
You couldn’t hide it, hide it from me
             Am F
All alone scared in your room, would you swear there’s nobody home
             Am F
On the bed laying awake as you prayed he’d leave you alone
               D F
I’ll let the darkness swallow me whole
            D F
I need to find you, need you to know

[Chorus]

Am F D
I’ll be your friend in the daylight again
Am F D
There we will be, like an old enemy
          F
Like the salt and the sea

[Interlude]

Am F

[Verse 2]
                Am F
And they wrote all these prescriptions, they wrote me off like a heel
             Am F
Yeah the doctors with their medicine left me to rock in my filth
              D F
From the destruction, out of the flame
             D F
You need a villain, give me a name

[Chorus]

Am F D
I’ll be your friend in the daylight again
Am F D
There we will be, like an old enemy
Am F D
I’ll be your friend in the daylight again
Am F D
There we will be, like an old enemy
F
Like the salt and the sea
F
Like the salt and the sea
