[Verse 1]

D D/C# Bm Bm7
I sense a runner in the garden
G A7 A6
Although my judgment's known to fail
D D/C# Bm Bm7
Once built a steamboat in a meadow
G A7 A6
Cause I'd forgotten how to sail

G A7 D
I know the runner's going to tell you
G A7 D
There ain't no cowboy in my hair
G A7 D
So now he's buried by the daisies
G A7
So I could stay the tallest man in your eyes, babe

[Verse 2]

D D/C# Bm Bm7
I sense a spy up in the chimney
G A7 A6
From all the evidence I've burned
D D/C# Bm Bm7
I guess he'll read it in the smoke now
G A7 A6
And soon to ashes I'll return

G A7 D
I know the spy is going to tell you
G A7 D
It's not my flag up in the pole
G A7 D
So now he's buried by the lilies
G A7
So I could stay forever more in your eyes, babe

[Verse 3]

D D/C# Bm Bm7
I sense a leak inside my phone now
G A7 A6
From all the lies I have told
D D/C# Bm Bm7
I know he has your private number
G A7 A6
And soon he'll make that vicious call

G A7 D
I know the leak is going to tell you
G A7 D
There ain't no puppy in your leash
G A7 D
So now he'll fertilize the roses
G A7
So I could stay the king you see in your eyes, babe
G A7
So I could stay the king you see in your eyes, babe

[Interlude]

D D/C# Bm
So now we're dancing through the garden
G A7 A6
And what a garden I have made
D D/C# Bm
And now that death will grow my jasmine
G A7 A6
I find it soothing I'm afraid

G A7 D
Now there is no need for suspicion
G A7 D
There ain't no frog kissing your hand
G A7 D
I won't be lying when I tell you
G A7
That I'm a gardener, I'm a man
A7 D
In your eyes babe
A7 D
In your eyes babe
A7 Bm
In your eyes babe.

I think the first D that he does looks like: |-0-| |-5-| |-3-| |-0-| |-5-| |-0-| And then the D/C# looks like |-0-| |-5-| |-3-| |-0-| |-4-| |-0-| Just a slight improvement, I think. Great job getting the chords and figuring out the tuning though! Really good job.

The album version is in plain old open D. When he plays it live, though, it's in Dsus2, which is probably where this misconception comes from.
