Driftwood by Travis
Capo 2
[Intro]
Am D x4

G Cadd9
Everything is open
D
Nothing is set in stone
G Cadd9
Rivers turn to ocean

Oceans tide you home

But your heart had to roam
G Cadd9
Drifting over bridges
D
Never to return
D7
Watching bridges burn
[Chorus]
G D Am
You're driftwood floating underwater
C
Breaking into pieces, pieces, pieces
G D Am
Just driftwood hollow and of no use
C
Waterfalls will find you, bind you, grind you
[Verse 2]
G Cadd9
Nobody is an island
D
Everyone has to go
G Cadd9
Pillars turn to butter
D
Butterflying low
G Cadd9
Low is where your heart is
D
But your heart has to grow
G Cadd9
Drifting under bridges
D
Never with the flow
[Bridge]
Am D
And you really didn't think it would happen
Am D
But it really is the end of the line
G D Am
So I'm sorry that you turned to driftwood
C G
But you've been drifting for a long, long time
[Instrumental]
Am - D - Am - D
Am - D - Am - Am
[Verse 3]
G Cadd9
Everywhere there's trouble
D
No where's safe to go
G Cadd9
Pushes turn to shovels
D
Shoveling the snow
G Cadd9
Frozen you have chosen
D
The path you wish to go
G Cadd9
Drifting now forever
D
And forever more
D7
Until you reach your shore
[CHORUS]
[Bridge]
[Ending]
Am G
You've been drifting for a long, long time
Am
You've been drifting for a long, long
C G
Drifting for a long, long time
Verse strum pattern that I play for this is
d-d-u-d-d-u-u-u-d-u-d-u
Just listen to the song, should be able to pick up the rhythm and use the strum
pattern if you want.

Guys, it would be so nice if you could do the entire song instead of writing just ‚chorus...‘ at one point. I often play the songs with autoscroll at parties. And if suddenly the chords are missing or you have to scroll up, it’s no good. Thanx!

I find myself playing the verse in a slightly different manner than the G, Cadd9, D progression as shown above. I play the G and the C with my pinky and ring finger firmly placed on the third fret of the b and e string, then I play a bar of Dsus4 (still with my pinky and ring finger in the same place) before I lift up my pinky to change the last bar to a D.
It might just be me, but I think this sounds much nicer in addition to being easier to play as you move your fingers a lot less :)
